Your Phone is Broken or Lost… Now What?

While balancing your coffee cup, books and a host of other things, you accidentally drop your phone. Oh noes! What to do? Rushing to the store and grabbing a brand new one is not an option (at least not until your credit card clears.)

Now what?

If you’re in this predicament, here are a few things you might want to remember.

1. Keep an open mind.

Well, okay, losing a phone can be devastating. You can throw a tantrum but after that, you’re gonna have to pull yourself together and simply, well, accept it. Although phones give us something to do when on break, it’s good to not have it as well.

Embrace the fact that losing your phone gives you more time to do other (more important) things. Take a walk or hang out with a friend. You can even write letters you’ve wanted to send to a friend. There are so many things to do. You’ll easily discover that there’s actually more to life than Facebook, Twitter or generally your iPhone.

2. Make sure to secure a backup for your phone.

Truth be told, even if we lose the phone itself, the agony is often more about the information that’s stored inside. To avoid all this pain, make sure to create a backup for all of your information right now. Do it! Save one onto your computer and also save a copy onto Cloud. This will definitely save you some of the stress if in case you do lose your phone later on.

3. Look at the bright side, no multi-tasking or inserting work at weird times.

Admit it, how many times have you sent emails using your phone while you were commuting to work? Maybe even send out emails while hanging out with friends? Instead of enjoying a movie, for instance, you’re distracted by the emails inside your phone. It’s important to set boundaries. Hey, sometimes even awful things happen for a reason so take it as a sign.

4. When your phone breaks down, do what you can to remotely wipe it.

Before your phone becomes broken or stolen, set up a reliable security system that allows for a remote wipeout. This prevents others from stealing the personal information inside your phone.  For iPhones, there are a variety of apps that can help you do this. Some services require registration and a small fee but it’s a small price to pay to keep your information safe and secure.

5. Secure a replacement phone.

Yup, if your credit card or savings is in top shape then just grab a new phone. There are plenty of amazing designs these days; each one has different features that could be useful for your lifestyle.

These top tips are perfect for those who find themselves just obsessing a little too much over their phones. There is life after losing your precious iPhone or Android device. Don’t fret, everything should be fine.
